Danish National Quake Team and more Danish Quake Clans

May 14, 1997 – Welcome to the Danish National Team‘s new home and thanx for Doomguard for making it possible :) As you may know we have played our first fight against Sweden 11. may which was the main reason for this team was made and we are now ready to face new challenges to defend our nation’s pride :)

May 11, 1997 – Denmark vs. Sweden (972-1331)

Today we have played our first national fight against Sweden. We knew that it would be a very difficult task since Sweden allready had played 3 official fihgts before this one. We have only played one training match against Norway.

We started out on the Swedish server. Unfortunately it is VERY hard to get people to understand that they had to remain calm when entering the server. Especially since Iceman(CA) had a lot of problems connecting to the server and finally had to give up :(

This caused the game to be delayed for 15 min or so and that was simply to long for many to stay put. Doomguard(MnO), our photographer, then played in stead of Iceman(CA). Flipper assistet as photographer in Doomguard(MnO)’s place. These kind of situation will probably arise again so we have to find some players that can be backup for us.

The second half was played on our server. I had closed everything else down to ensure a good network connection. As the screenshots show everyone had descent pings. That was also the case on the swedish server. Iceman(CA) could connect in the beginning but when I restartet the server and thereby the game he fell off and couldn’t come back on :( Therefore we played 2. half with only 14 players.

Niclas(TGM) had worked out some tactics (A very long 12 pages version :). We tried our best to follow it but soon realized it was way too optimistic and complecated. We tried to narrow it down a bit in the second half but still it didn’t work out as it was supposed to. Niclas(TGM) will now try to simplify the tactics.

Afterwards we had a little trouble getting the score right, but it seemed that we were missing a swedish player on our screenshot of the second half. But fortunately I could the right one from the swedes.

June 21, 1997 – Denmark vs. United Kingdom (867-1220)

We fought our first match against UK. We have changed our tactics according to what we learned from the match against Sweden. Unfortunately the day started out with a couple of problems. NBI-Carnage had some problems and couldn’t attend the match. In lack of players I had to put Finn B of the NBI clan on the team for this match. He is not normally on the team but happend to be around and was able to step in. Of course this was a drawback since he didn’t know about the tactics in full. We explained to him what his job was and on we went :)

We started out on our server since the UK guys didn’t find a server until the very last moment. This time it seemed like the tactics actually worked. We were able to defend our positions most of the time and won this leg by approx. 130 frags. Xavier observed this leg and tried to make a demo and some screenshots. But of course his computer ran out of diskspace so it only containes a couple of minutes demo and no screenshots :( I have managed to get the screenshot from the demo though:).

Next we went to the UK server. Unfortunately they didn’t allow observers so we couldn’t make a demo here. What was worse was that half of the danish team had a real shitty connection to that server. Actually, it was only the players sitting at NBI HQ and Yobeard that had descent pingtimes. The rest was constantly above 200. This really slowed us down and made it quite easy for UK to win, and with quite a margin too. Just look at the screenshot that was taken after the game ended (no player activity). I have a feeling that we could have done much better if we have had equal connections, but that’s life i gues :(

On top of that Doomguard, who was player no. 13 btw, crashed his computer and didn’t attend most of the second leg which also shows on the score.

All in all. We still need to be better prepared, especially hardware wise. And we also need to have a little more discipline. Many players didn’t stick to the tactics or failed to help out when needed.

Eventually we will learn …. but as always … we had a real fun time :)

Ruvan i færd med at finjustere sin sensitivity. Bemærk det yderst koncentrerede udtryk i øjnene og tungen der bliver holdt lige i munden.

Vi gjorde det på dette bord (ja, spillede krone altså!). Effekterne på brættet var der ikke da billedet blev taget. Jeg har sendt billedet videre til DSOUF. (Dansk Spøgelse Og Uhygge Forening).

Jeg fangede Ruvan i et ømt øjeblik hvor hans fyr var ved at slå op med ham. Bemærk Ruvan’s lidende udtryk. Nej, hvor er det synd!

MnO – Clan In Da Front!

FREDAG D. 7 NOVEMBER 1998

Jeg har en god og en dårlig meddelelse. Jeg vil starte med den gode: “Danske unge har Europarekord i druk” (set i Politiken).. Den dårlige er at vi åbenbart ikke har verdensrekorden endnu. Jeg ved ikke hvem der har den, men jeg ville gætte på grønland (ja, jeg VED godt at grønland er en del af Kongeriet Danmark).

…Og SÅ er det vist tid til en fællessang (dedikeret til MnO-Fragalot):

I aften vil AT^Shade, ^Yobeard, V-Bovsan samt 2 andre Vikinger, Prelate samt de virkelig hårde Quake gutter MnO-Ruvan og MnO-DoomGuard (ja, du har sikkert hørt om de to sidstnævnte.. De andre er ret ukendte) gøre VORES til at Danmark skraber guldmedaljen i druk hjem til næste år. Jeg har tænkt mig at dække begivenheden fra nært hold, nemlig igennem bunden af en tuborg.

Her er et billede af helten, hvis du ikke allerede HAR set det. MnO-Mother, som kan ses i baggrunden i færd med at provokere mig, HAR faktisk ikke kanintænder, selv om det ser sådan ud på dette thumbnail picture. Efter jeg havde takket ham for hans V fingre, havde han faktisk slet ingen tænder. PS. jeg var på LSD da billedet blev taget.

Her sidder MnO-Ruvan og spiller cool. Ruvan og jeg har mangen en gang drukket en øl eller 3 sammen i MnO hovedkvarteret. Det har dog altid endt med at jeg gibbede Ruvan som så gibbede i wc’et. Bemærk at Ruvans øjne på thumbnailen kigger 2 vidt forskellige steder hen. Selv om han spiller som om det forholder sig således, sidder hans øjne faktisk hvor de skal.

Nå, jeg vil slutte nu… I skal IKKE regne med updates på denne side lørdag, med mindre jeg absolut intet andet har at lave (inkl. pille tæer, vaske op, støvsuge eller lufte min ged). Hav en rar week-end og husk at take det gode me… Øhh.. Nej, husk at vende tilbage og læse mit fest-review. DG OUT!
