HatLAN: 50 Years with 50 Players
October 2, 2004
DLink comes through for all the guys… DLink is an awesome sponsor that really hooked us up, a big thanks go to them.
Altec Lansing and Antec helped support the party. Altec Lansing and Antec were both last minute surprise sponsors.
Averatec sent us a lot of cool goodies and we always have our good friends at Bawls. They hooked us up with a new banner, shirts and of course drinks for the birthday party.
Belkin sent us some cool new Nostromo N52 SpeedPad’s they seem to work pretty good. Chenbro sent some cool shirts, and Corsair sent some hats, mouse pads and pens.
Matrix Orbital is another very cool sponsor. They sent us an MX212 Digital Bay Bus LCD and internal USB cable, and all the sensors we could use.
Mouse Bungee was another surprise sponsor. They just showed up with 4 Bungee’s for us.
Newegg is one of the best sponsors, they sent us all kinds of goodies. Towels, hats, stickers, case badges and 5 Fedex boxes full of cool stuff.
NVIDIA is always there for the gamers, they always send us cool sponsorship stuff. They didn’t let us down this time either, they sent us a 5900XT for one of the lucky guys.
Silverstone is an awesome computer case company. They sent us a very nice case the SilverStone TJ04 Black Tower Case with window. Very Nice!
Thrustmaster was the very first sponsor to support this party, they are very cool. They sent us two Tacticalboards that looked pretty cool, I need to find out how these work. Send me an email and let me know how you like them.
Waffer Tech – PC AirCon PAC 400
Waffer Tech is another great company, they sent us 25 PC AirCon PAC 400. This company went above and beyond to help us out and I really want to thank them.
Ziff Davis another sponsor that made it possible for everybody to go home with something. It was really cool to be able to give everybody a little something so no one was left out.
This was a very cool table, just look at all the sponsors that helped out!
Here it is! All the gamers coming up to receive prizes and gifts from the raffle.
Gamers, Gamers , Gamers!!!!
Oh yeah! Pizza is here! come and get it! Rosa’s Big Mama pizza for everybody!
Can you say junk food kingdom!
Alright here they are the Birthday boys playing games.
Mike “g1zm0” Burbidge and Ralph “HatTriQk” Evans
The very cool and almost scary life size stand-up of Ralph… Thanks Weiler.
“Ralph and Mike both scored for their birthdays by both receiving an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ courtesy of AMD. I had almost forgot about the GIG of PC4200 memory that Centon Memory had sponsored since it had also not arrived so I felt it was a good idea to give it to Ralph to go with his new CPU, he’s a geek he needs stuff like this. So I hope everybody had a great time I know I did, I also want to thank Seth and Phil for setting up the network and electricity and letting us use there house for this big Birthday Bash (hope your ladies aren’t still mad). I will have more reviews of the party and a ton more pictures up here soon so check back in a couple days. I want to thank each and every sponsor for making this a one of a kind party for these guys we couldn’t have done it with out your support. -Chester“

The Conclusion, by Chester
Well its come and gone the HatLAN Birthdays are behind us. I have to say that this was one of, if not the best LAN Party that I’ve ever been too, if I do say so myself. It was so much fun getting all these geeks together for these Birthdays and it was nice seeing all the old faces (not yours Ralph). Since I’m mentioning geeks there were a few that didn’t show up that should have been there. I wont mention names but I will put letters Ha*, and Lurc* and a few others. You know who you are, well all I can say is that if you missed it you missed one hell of a good party!
Now you might be asking what made it so much fun? Well for me it was seeing these guys, trying to kick there butts and consuming mass quantities of junk food, soda, and pizza. Oh and of course handing out all kinds of great hardware, shirts, posters, Bawls and other goodies. This party was made very special buy all the cool sponsors that stepped up and helped these old farts have the best party I think they’ve had in a very long time!
We ended up with about 45-55 total gamers and spectators. We had a couple tournaments, the biggest of which was 20 vs. 20 that ended up being a tie after 3 rounds of scoreless CTF, man those were good games. The tournament was a winner take all for our sponsored “Waffer Technology PC AirCon PAC 400”, in the end we had to raffle them off so we could get on to other games and more prizes.
This party was extra nice for me as I was the prize man and was able to hand out the booty to these guys, I loved the looks on their faces, it was a cross of man I want to win but man I don’t want to get up there and have my picture taken. With all the sponsors help everybody at the LAN went home with something and that was the best possible thing for me. DLink was the leader in helping us do that by sending everybody home with a Gigabit Network card. Waffer Technology was also a very big leader in making this party great by sending us 25 PC AirCon PAC 400, which we were trying to give to the winners of the tournament.
I really have to mention Waffer Technology as this company bent over backwards to try and help us out. They were very disappointed that they had to send us OEM boxes for the party instead of retail boxes. They even went so far as to have bags made so that we could give them out in them, but a shipping error sent the bags to Israel buy mistake. The bags were then sent from Israel to the USA but didn’t arrive till Monday. I felt so bad, Amy from Waffer Technology worked so hard to make this event great. I really want to thank her for all the help and the phone call all the way from Taiwan to explain what had happened.
