Quake II Magazine Archive: id Software – Quake II

"Our Chaos Theory: fire a BFG in 1997 and you get CHAOS in 2021… The reason Quake and Quake II get more coverage than other games is simply because of the way in which gamers embrace playing them. No other games have been mutated in so many ways as Quake and Quake II have. So if you're sick of hearing the word Quake — bad luck. You'll be hearing a lot more of it in the future."

Quake II Magazine Archive: Quake on Sega Saturn

"GameFan: Quake runs on a minimum spec PC of a Pentium 60 with 8 megs of RAM. Just how on earth is the Saturn going to cope?! Lobotomy: We're working hard to squeeze every ounce of power out of the Saturn. Our primary goal is to successfully capture the mood, look and feel that is so unique to Quake... The Slave Driver engine is being modified to both further improve its performance in rendering the environment, as well as to allow for 'pick-ups' and enemies to be represented as true 3D polygon objects."

PlanetQuake: Riding the Rocket — Weekly Quake II Trickjump Challenges, by Kaj s8n Haffenden

"Last week's first challenge was a bit of a toughie, wasn't it? :). Rest assured, this week's is nice and easy.. well, not too easy to manage a 'perfect' demo, but certainly easy to submit an entry for. In as many ways as you can, without weapons, get to the block above the machinegun. Turning deathmatch mode on will make it easier for one of the jumps, btw, so don't forget that :). -Kaj s8n Haffenden"
