Chaos Quake 2 Mod — Chaotic Maps, by Ilya Mikhajlov

"Quite a few years have passed when maps were made for the network component of Quake 2 Chaos. It seems that everything, the game is hopelessly outdated, but no - even now, during the break of working days, it is possible to get a portion of the crazy adrenaline in the slaughterhouse under the modification for the legendary game — Chaos. The OpenGL engine, new textures, a crazy arsenal of weapons and fun bots give the game a chance to run to this day. Well, if there are like-minded Old Believers for a network game … In this blog, over time... screenshots and descriptions of all the material that has seen the light here will also be presented."

GamersOrb: Quake 2 Orb — Female Fragsters and Multiplayer Combat Tactics

"An increasingly larger proportion of women are getting onto the net and gaming. It has indeed been predicted, by a certain magazine which I have now forgotten the name of, that by 2002 there will be more women using the net than men and as a result more will be involved with online gaming... The arrival of Quake 2 signalled the end of just about everything else (other games, a social life, personal hygiene) for at least 6 months, as well as being another great leap forward to Upgrade Time for those with non-meaty PCs. Watching the phenomenon blossom is intriguing, though plotting its course is a no brainer. As expected, the online community swung into action from the outset. The existing 7.8 million or so Quake fan/news sites embraced the second coming with gusto, providing up-to-the-minute news and downloads... Quake 2’s long term value has been assured even only a few weeks after its release. There are enough hacks turned editor out there to sink the proverbial ship and the rate of people having a dabble is increasing every day. How long will Quake 2 last? Well let’s just say that if you played every single level, used every patch, made your own levels, played every TC you would be very old by the time you had finished. You would also die very happy.
